HELP! How do I prepare my body for pregnancy??Caroline Fenton
How do I prepare my body for pregnancy? A frequently asked question, an often wondered thought… we’re here to help fill in some gaps! Over the last few months, we’ve had the pleasure of chatting to the lovely Tami! When pregnant with her little boy, Mase, like many of us, she googled for all the answers (to all the questions!) and realised that there wasn’t one set, go to place for all things ‘pregnancy’. Looking for advice on how best to look after herself throughout pregnancy, and also prior to this, in getting her body pregnancy fit, and wanting to ensure she had the best environment possible to begin the creation of a new little one.
How do I prepare my body for pregnancy??
So with a background in all things fitness and health, Tami created her own program! Packed full of all her research, education and experience… Best for my Bub. We’re yet to hop onto the program itself, but from chatting to this lovely lady it’s pretty clear she’s got great advice, a beautiful mindset and is striving to create the best environments possible for our little ones.
So, how do I prepare my body for pregnancy?? She’s here to let you know! Find out a little more about Tami here, nudie rudies, breakfast dates, massages and all…
- So, tell us, who is @bestformybub?
My ‘other’ little baby that I am so proud of :) It basically came about from my own personal experience – I was looking to best prepare my body for pregnancy and found there was no one place with all the information on what needed to be done and HOW to make the necessary changes. So I have incorporated my research, my own personal experiences, my Health Coaching and my Personal Training and have developed a Program that educates, provides practical and easy to follow ways to implement the required changes and importantly, holds people accountable and on track so that they will actually make the changes rather than just ‘invest and forget’.
- Can you describe your biz in 3 words…
Health. Family. Future.
- Why do you do what you do?
Because I am so passionate about the health of our children! I am determined to make my mark and ensure that our next generation is given the best possible opportunity to lead a long healthy, active, positive and fulfilling life.
- What have been your best biz moments so far?
*Launch!!! Best For My Bub is still very new and our online Program only just launched in October. I have just been so excited to get it out there and start sharing it with the world!
*Of course, seeing the changes in my clients and knowing that I am helping to have a positive impact on their lives and both their and their families health :)
*And just simply feedback that I am getting from people about the uniqueness of the Program and how they love the concept (yes we do too Tami!!)
- What does a typical day look like for you?
My hubby and I take it in turns to get the little man up so on my days “off” I’ll generally do a circuit in the backyard, go for a run down along the foreshore or get some yoga in, on my days “on” I try and get a good stretch in to start the day off before breakfast and supplements and finish getting prepped and ready for the day. Each day is a little different but morning we generally have our ‘activities’ i.e. Toddler Jam, Gymbaroo, swimming etc, then home for lunch and a nap.. unfortunately, not for me!! But while the little man is down I get to work (client check-in’s, program development, sales and marketing, and all the other bits and pieces that come with running a business).
Then it’s errand running and play time in the arvo while I *try to* prep dinners :). Most arvos we’re at home I try and get out for a walk before Mase has dinner then the bath and bed routine. Then once he’s in bed a few more hours work or client meetings or some ‘chill time’ when the schedule allows it. I do my absolute best to be in bed at a reasonable hour… doesn’t always happen but I totally notice it the next day if I’ve skimped on my sleep so try and keep the late nights to a minimum.
- What’s your ‘me time’ go to?
A bit of yoga, breakfast with my gals, a massage always goes down well! Any time I get to go be outdoors near water is a happy day for me – love the beach and going down to the foreshore for a walk or a run!
- What’s your favourite day of the week, and why?
Hmmm… that’s a tricky one… I never struggle with Mondayitis or anything like that these days as I love everything I get to do at the moment… I would probably have to say Sundays as I try and keep the work to a minimum on Sundays and dedicate it as our ‘family’ day – so get some special quality time with the little fam :)
- What does your perfect date night (or day!) look like?
Hmmmm… I’d have to say both our favourite thing to do is go out for a scrummy breakie! Sounds simple but hits the spot for both of us!
- Can you give us a favourite quote?
Live the life you want your children to experience
- Any ‘mum fails’ you’d like to let us in on?
Of course not… haha hmmm.. does trying to poison my son with off almond milk count…or haha – here’s one, a little gross but you know babies and poo go hand in hand! So it was only 10 mins till bath time, thought I’d ‘free’ the little man of his nappy and go play outside till it was time to hop in the bath… he was having a ball (loves being a little rudie nudie) and then literally, just as I said ‘Bubba, it’s time for bath’… he paused and concentrated for a moment and then wandered towards me leaving a little trail of poop behind him. And then, to top it off, as I panicked and tried to get him to stay still! Of course he turned around and tried to run away from me, walking straight through it – thank god the bath was ready and waiting for him!!!
P.S I completely agree Tami, our fave weekend thing is a proper good breaky out, and some good frothy caffeine to match!! x
